Due to COVID19 we will be switching to online lessons . It’s so great that we have this option as it means that everyone can stay home and safe and still make great progress in their piano studies!
I will be using Zoom for these lessons so here’s what you need to do to get ready:
Download the Zoom app on whatever device you will use for the call. I recommend picking the largest screen you can (e.g.computer, laptop or iPad) but if you need to use a phone that’s fine too.
Find a way to prop up the device so that I’ll be able to see your child’s hands and they will be able to see the screen. Try not to put it on the piano itself as the vibrations can distort the sound. A careful pile of books is often the best option!
Have headphones plugged-in and ready if possible to improve the audio quality.
Have all current books, practice folder and some blank paper and a pencil ready to go beside the piano at the lesson time.
If you have a way to plug in a wired internet connection (ethernet cable) please do so. If not, please tell others in the house to avoid streaming video or playing online games at the lesson time.
You will receive your Zoom link in an email a few days before the lesson and you can use this link to log in at any time if you want to make sure everything is set up and ready to go. (You won’t be interrupting other lessons as their is a waiting room and you will be let in to your lesson at the appropriate time.
There will be opportunities for group lessons, webinars, and one on one sessions.
That’s it, simple as that. If this is your first experience with online lessons you might be surprised how effective they are and how similar to normal group and in-person lessons!
If you have any questions or need any more help getting set up, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Don't forget that piano club membership also includes FREE ACCESS to Piano Maestro, Supersonics Piano and more which can give your student hours of guided practice time . Check with Yaya if you have lost your log in information.
